Volunteer Interpreters

About Volunteer Interpreters Program
Volunteer interpreter program is a program that provides interpretation at the time of health checkups at public health centers or teacher and parent meetings at elementary or junior high schools, and document translation.

Registration for Volunteer Interpreter Program
Multicultural Information Plaza welcomes volunteer interpreters.
Those who meet the requirements described below and wish to register as a volunteer interpeter are requested to fill out the "Volunteer Interpreter Registration Form" below with a photo attached (digital photo accepted) , and submit it either in person, by post, e-mail or electronic application system(別ウインドウで開く).
*Person aged under 18 must submit registration form in person or by post. Please contact below for details.

Requirements for Volunteer Interpreter Registration
(1)must be aged 16 or over (Person aged under 18 need guardian's agreement)
(2)Fluent in both Japanese and foreign language
(3)Willing to faithfully perform volunteer activities

Rewards
(1) Interpretation (per request)
Less than 2 hours: 2,000 yen
More than 2 hours but less than 4 hours: 3,000 yen
More than 4 hours: 4,000 yen
(2) Document translation
・From Japanese to foreign language (including translation from Korean and Chinese to Japanese)
Less than 600 letters: 1,500 yen / More than 600 letters: 3,000 yen
・From foreign language to Japanese
Less than 400 words: 1,500 yen / More than 400 words: 3,000 yen

Volunteer Insurance
Volunteer interpreters are insured by volunteer insurance.
